Nada Madkour
Director

The AI Policy Hub is an interdisciplinary platform at the University of California, Berkeley dedicated to disseminating effective governance frameworks and policy research to guide the development and deployment of frontier artificial intelligence. Led by Dr. Nada Madkour, the Hub serves as a central node for Berkeley’s research community, translating technical insights into actionable policy deliverables for a safe and beneficial AI future.
We are building upon the success of our celebrated AI Policy Hub fellowship (2022-2025) by amplifying innovative frontline AI research across disciplines, and by coordinating strategic convenings to reduce systemic risks and bolster the societal benefits of artificial intelligence.
Our mission is to elevate UC Berkeley’s leadership within California’s unique AI policy ecosystem, fostering a future in which AI technologies do not exacerbate division or inequity, but instead foster human connection and societal well-being through evidence-based governance.
We are housed at the AI Security Initiative, part of the University of the Center for Long-Term Cybersecurity (CLTC).
We partner with CITRIS Tech Policy and collaborate with a broad network of UC Berkeley departments and centers — including the School of Information; College of Computing, Data Science, and Society (CDSS); Center for Human-Compatible Artificial Intelligence (CHAI); Berkeley Center for Law & Technology (BCLT); College of Engineering; Goldman School of Public Policy; and Berkeley Risk and Security Lab (BRSL).
