UC Berkeley’s Center for Long-Term Cybersecurity
is celebrating our first decade of impact — working to secure our collective future since 2015.
As part of this effort, we are collecting and sharing testimonials that speak to CLTC’s impact and invite you to contribute and share your story!
Because of CLTC…
Across 2025 we are rolling out a series of special publications, videos, and events that make vivid the difference CLTC has made. Click each bullet below for more detail.
Expanding Public-Interest Cyber Education and Defense Worldwide
Since 2018, the first-in-world UC Berkeley Cybersecurity Clinic has trained 200+ students and strengthened 40+ community nonprofits against politically motivated cyber threats.
Today, 40 cybersecurity clinics operate globally, a movement catalyzed by the Consortium of Cybersecurity Clinics, co-founded by CLTC in 2021. In just four years, the clinic network has grown ninefold, thanks to visionary philanthropic partnerships that have established clinics in 25 U.S. states plus D.C. Clinics thrive at many different kinds of institutions, including HBCUs, women’s colleges, 2-year technical and community colleges and tribal colleges—building both cyber talent pipelines and critical community cyber defense resources.
Shaping Global Policy in AI and Cyber for Digital Resilience
CLTC’s AI Security Initiative has influenced cyber policy worldwide, with recommendations adopted by U.S. states, federal agencies, and international business networks since 2019. Our cutting-edge tools for Board Governance of Cyber Risk are used globally, while our pioneering Internet Atlas research equips government, industry, and civil society with new maps and measurements of the complex relationship between the internet and global, geopolitical dynamics, — helping to shape a more secure and equitable digital future.
Anticipating Cyber Threats Through Strategic Foresight
CLTC’s Cybersecurity Futures framework — developed in partnership with the World Economic Forum and presented at Davos — equips businesses and governments worldwide to anticipate emerging threats. Our Cybersecurity Futures 2030 scenarios underpin CLTC’s latest initiatives on AI-Enabled Cybercrime and the Cybersecurity of the Clean Energy Transition.
Building a Global Cybersecurity and AI Talent Pipeline
Thousands of researchers, policymakers, and industry leaders engage with CLTC through programs, research, and convenings—shaping the future of cybersecurity and AI policy and governance. CLTC alumni have joined the Library of Congress, the California Privacy Protection Agency, and the U.S. Digital Service; have entered tenure-track faculty roles; and are leading cybersecurity and privacy at major corporations. And the CLTC diaspora is only just getting started!
