Hannah Ellis, MIMS ’25

Hannah Ellis is a second-year master’s student at the School of Information. She has worked at the intersection of technology and human rights for the last five years. Before starting graduate school, Hannah worked for three years at Business for Social Responsibility (BSR) where she was a manager on the technology and human rights team. At BSR her work involved supporting tech companies in the responsible development and deployment of digital technologies. In this role, she conducted numerous human rights assessments and led human rights due diligence projects for companies like Google, Meta, Salesforce, Snap, and British Telecom (BT).
Before BSR, Hannah worked at the Human Rights Foundation and the Berkman Klein Center for Internet and Society at Harvard. Hannah’s current research interests at the ISchool are wide-ranging and include responsible AI development, public sector use of digital systems, and internet infrastructure and access for rural communities.
