Biography
Joanna Ma is a graduate student in the Berkeley School of Information studying Information Management and Systems (MIMS ‘22), where her research interests span social computing, usable security, and reflective technologies. Her public interest cybersecurity work includes co-organizing The Glass Room SF, a Mozilla and Tactical Tech exhibition of works that invite visitors to critically reflect on their relationship with data and surveillance through tangible user interfaces, and identifying risk mitigation strategies for under-resourced politically vulnerable organizations through CTLC’s Citizen Clinic. Ma is a 2020 RSA Security Scholar and a 2021 GREPSEC V Scholar. She received her BA in Interdisciplinary Studies with a focus in Human Computer Interaction from the University of California, Berkeley.
