Javier Garcia Quintela is the Global CISO at Repsol, a Fortune 500 company. They are responsible for tackling cybersecurity challenges within the digital and industrial business domains. His vision is to facilitate Repsol’s commitments to achieving net-zero goals and ensuring a successful energy transition by projecting the company’s cybersecurity model into the future.
This transformation hinges on several key elements: leveraging a high level of innovation paired with an attacker perspective, providing robust industrial cybersecurity, moving cybersecurity to the cloud, and developing a top-performance team. By integrating these elements, Javier aims to strengthen Repsol’s cybersecurity framework and ensure that it remains resilient and adaptive in an ever-evolving digital landscape.
Javier brings extensive experience in the IT and digital energy sector. Prior to his current position as CISO, Javier has held several pivotal roles in IT, including Global Head of Services and Operations, as well as Head of Strategy, Architecture, and Procurement, among others. His experience has been instrumental in driving innovation and ensuring the security and efficiency of Repsol IT operations.
Furthermore, Javier is an active participant in the Cybersecurity Chapter of the World Economic Forum, where he contributes to global discussions on cybersecurity trends and best practices. Javier holds a degree in Communication Engineering from the Polytechnic University of Madrid. Additionally, he has completed the HarvardX program on Cybersecurity: Managing Risks in the Information Age, the Independent Board Advisor program at IESE Business School, and programs on Operational Excellence and Strategy Execution, also at IESE.
