Peter Schwartz is one of the world’s most experienced, insightful, and entertaining analysts of the digital revolution.

Peter will reflect in conversation with UC Berkeley School of Information Head of School and CLTC Faculty Director Prof. Steve Weber on what he’s learned over the years about how humans and digital technologies push each other to imagine and create different realities in business, politics, and social life. This is guaranteed to be an insightful, provocative, wide-ranging, and fun discussion.

Peter Schwartz is the senior vice president for strategic planning at Salesforce. An aeronautical engineer by training, Peter started his long and intimate relationship with digital technology in business and society when he joined SRI in the mid 1970s. In the mid 1980s he ran the Global Business Environment Unit at Royal Dutch/Shell, the world’s premier scenario planning group at that time. In the late 1980s Peter moved to Berkeley to launch Global Business Network (GBN) which became known as the leading practitioner of scenario thinking about the future of digital economy and society, working for global businesses, major non-profits, and government agencies around the world.  Peter moved to Salesforce in 2011, where he continues his work at the intersection of digital technology transformation, business strategy, social movements, and geopolitics. Along the way, Peter has written several well-regarded books, worked on major science fiction films like War Games and Minority Report, and served on the boards of organizations like the Center for New American Security and the Long Now Foundation.
