Graduate Student Research, Multi-Source Data Analytics

Qualifications

Minimum Education Level: Student

Graduate Student Research Opportunity in Multi-Source Data Analytics: A graduate student research (GSR) position is available to support a project on multi-source data analytics. In the absence of direct detection of highly specific nuclear materials, indirect evidence must be used to understand the activities at both declared and undeclared nuclear facilities. Distributed intelligence using compact networked sensors provides important information to inform such assessments. The goal of this work, in collaboration with the Nevada National Security Site, is to collect multimodal data and develop algorithms for integration of disparate data types to identify “useful” patterns for nuclear security applications. The ideal candidate will have strong written and oral communication skills, experience with a Linux/Unix environment and relevant software development (e.g., scikit-learn), and a creative approach to problem solving.

This is a 50% appointment with full tuition and fee remission.

Those interested in the GSR role are encouraged to email Dr. Bethany Goldblum with a CV and cover letter at bethany@nuc.berkeley.edu.
