Join us in-person or virtually on Friday, Apr 17 from 9:30 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. for a half-day event designed to help close the cybersecurity resource gap facing nonprofit organizations in the state of Washington.

Co-hosted by CLTC, the City of Seattle, and WaTech, Washington’s central IT and cybersecurity agency, the WA Nonprofit Cyber Forum will connect nonprofits to free, pro-bono, and low-cost cybersecurity support to strengthen their cyber readiness.

In Washington State, the majority of public services are delivered by nonprofit organizations, through state and local government grants and contracts. Yet nonprofits are the second-most targeted sector for cyberattacks, and the persistent threats can strain their budgets, disrupt their operations, and interrupt essential services for local communities.

At the event, CLTC will present findings from a statewide study of Washington nonprofits on their current cybersecurity challenges and unmet cybersecurity needs. The findings will be presented alongside policy recommendations for state and local government.A panel of state and local government representatives will then discuss the report’s policy recommendations and practical pathways for closing those resource gaps.

Speakers will include:

William Kehoe, Chief Information Officer and WaTech Agency Director at State of Washington
Jake Hammock, Assistant CTO, Security & Infrastructure Director and Chief Information Security Officer, Seattle Information Technology Department
Esther Magasis, Director of Human Services, Yakima County

The event will conclude with a Cybersecurity Resource Fair to connect nonprofits directly with vetted cyber volunteering programs and managed service providers (MSPs/MSSPs) specializing in nonprofit support. Nonprofits will have the opportunity to learn about available services and resources, ask questions, share their cybersecurity experiences, and sign up for free, pro-bono cybersecurity assistance.
